What is Office "Day in a Chair"?
A ‘Day in a Chair’ is a rewarding and enlightening experience for your employees. Each participant will walk away with a greater appreciation and understanding of the challenges faced by those with a spinal cord injury (SCI).
Following a SCI story presentation, HeadNorth offers your employees the opportunity to volunteer and spend a work day in a wheelchair. Participants will experience a variety of activities and prizes will be awarded to those who spend the most time in the wheelchair. Following the experience, participants will complete a short survey, summarizing their day. . Everyone will receive a certificate for their participation and gain new insight into the life of an SCI survivor.
What is the purpose?

- Provide a fun and entertaining interoffice activity
How does it work?
HeadNorth will provide your company with a wheelchair and a monthly calendar that will serve as a sign-up sheet for employees who want to use the wheelchair for a day. Your company will appoint a point-of-contact person for the program who will monitor the sign-ups and administer end-of-day survey.
At the end of the program, HeadNorth will work with the point-of-contact to identify prize winners. A teambuilding wrap-up meeting will offer participants the opportunity to share their experience and recognize the prize winners. Everyone will leave with a certificate documenting their involvement and importantly experience some of the daily challenges faced by those living with a spinal cord injury.

What is School "Day in a Chair"?
A School ‘Day in a Chair’ is a rewarding and enlightening experience for teachers, staff, and students. Each participant will literally walk away with a greater appreciation and understanding of the challenges faced by those with a spinal cord injury (SCI).
The ‘Day in a Chair’ program can be presented as an individual class project or as a school-wide experience for everyone. Following an SCI story presentation in the classroom or school assembly, HeadNorth will offer teachers, staff, and students the opportunity to volunteer and spend a school day in a wheelchair. Following the experience, participants will complete a short survey, summarizing their day. Everyone will gain new insight into the life of an SCI survivor.
